Illinois 4-H Poultry Judging Team Places 10th in National Contest

The Illinois 4-H Poultry Judging team placed 10th out of 19 states in the National 4-H Poultry and Egg Conference held November 20, 2008 in Louisville, KY. The four 4-H'ers that made up the team were: 1) Sara Wilhelms, Freeport; 2) Katie Engelkens, Freeport; 3) Kyle Allison, Williamsville; and 4) Seth Martin, Springfield. In addition to the 10th place overall, the team placed 10th in Production Hens, 13th in Market Poultry, and 8th in Market Eggs. Individually, Kyle Allison placed 10th in Market Eggs, and Seth Martin placed 5th in Market Poultry, 3rd in Production Hens, and was the 3rd place individual overall out of 88 total 4-H'ers in the Judging Contest. Ken Koelkebeck was the coach and financial support for the team was provided by the Illinois 4-H Foundation, the Illinois State 4-H Office, and the Department of Animal Sciences.
